Terrorism is a lethal threat to the current world. Though Singapore has no recorded incidents of terrorism, threats have been abound. Remember Mas Selamat? Raising awareness could prepare Singapore for any imminent danger. Thus, we believe this is a relevant issue in Singapore.

An Interview with Peter Brooks on Terrorism
Why terrorists participate in terrorism? Terrorism is political. To clear some misconceptions, Islamisation is NOT terrorism. People are free to practice their own religions, but the main problem is that some of these people turn to violence, especially against innocent civilians. The London Bus Bombing
so imagine if you were in this bus, would you have survived? maybe not. Bombing of the Madrid train
from the video, do you think there would be enough time to escape? we do not think so. 191 people were killed and 1,800 injured. The Bali Bombers
they did not feel remorseful, but were instead very proud of what they had done. A tribute to the victims of the Madrid train bombing
the people
We are a group of students (known as JAPAL) from Victoria Junior College, currently embarking on our project titled “Together We Fight Terrorism” with the aim of making information about terrorism threats towards our MRT system more accessible to the public.
Through our surveys, we have found that print media and the Internet form the two media most frequented by youths thus our choice of posters and webpage.

What is terrorism? Are there ways to prevent such attacks?
Here are some questions some youth might ask themselves but unfortunately, the questions often go unanswered, leaving the youth ignorant and confused.
So why not sign up for this amazing race and get those burning questions off your chest?
We promise you it would be a well-spent Sunday, filled with lots of fun and awesome games! (:
A short outline of what would be happening on that day.
Race would last around three hours.
Participants spend 30 minutes on each station.
Each group consists of five members.
After the race, each group would come up with a 10-panel comic strip reflecting their understanding of the topic.
Schedule
1230-1300: Registration at Bedok MRT station
1300-1330: Briefing of activities
1330-1630: Race
1630-1715: Race ends and Release of Results
By the end of this activity, we hope that they would have a clearer understanding of what to do should they face this situation. Since our target group is teenagers, interactive activities will attract them to participate actively and be more receptive to the information.
Games
Each station will illustrate a scenario of a past terrorism attack on public transport especially on trains (Eg. Madrid train bombing 2004.
Through these cases, they would understand the severity of terrorism on a country and apply the lessons learnt in future scenarios.(the information on the various cases around the world, and the correct measures that they have undertaken and the areas for improvements).
Games: Crossword puzzle, Video and Q & A, Charades, Taboo, Memory Game etc
Let it be enough to reach the truth
A comic strip competition would be conducted as a post-R.A.T reflections exercise, targeted towards the teenage group as they form the generation that would grow up in a global society full of imminent terrorism threats.
Participants reflect on what they have learnt, and apply them when designing the comic strips.
The competition is proposed to be as part of activities conducted as a build-up to commemoration of Total Defence Day on February 15th.
Competition Overview
• Participants asked to come up with a comic strip (maximum of 10 panels) promoting the importance of civic awareness concerning terrorism threats towards the MRT system.
• Comic strips to be judged based on creativity, aesthetic appeal and impact of messages conveyed.
• Five finalists would be short listed and promoted to schools for voting by the school community.
• Voting constitutes 50% of the final results with another 50% judged by the organizers.
• Winning comic strip would then be promoted to the public Eg. Publishing in newspapers.
